Who is the Course For

All staff working with vulnerable adults.

Course Content

• Main types of abuse and recognise signs of harm or abuse associated with each type.
• Factors that may contribute to an individual being more vulnerable to harm or abuse.
• Sources of information and advice about your role and responsibilities in preventing harm and abuse and protecting individuals from it, including how the complaints procedure can be used to reduce the risk to individuals.
• Recognise your role in managing risk and supporting residents to exercise choices and rights including use of complaints procedure
• Know the actions you must take and who to contact in the event of disclosure or if you suspect an individual is being harmed or abused.
• Outline national policies, local systems and employer’s procedures that relate to protection including consequences of serious failures.

Course Materials

• All those completing the course will be issued with a Certificate.
• A full set of Course Notes will be issued to the Manager of those attending.

Notes

A Copy of your own policy will be required if you wish staff to be made aware of it.
