People Moving (Theory & Practical)
Who is the Course For
Nursing and Care Staff.
Course Content
- Key pieces of legislation that relate to Moving and Positioning.
- How to move and position people and/or objects safely, maintaining the individual’s dignity, in line with legislation and agreed safe ways of working.
- Completing risk assessments in relation to Moving and Handling of people and/or objects.
- Explain the areas of the spinal column and relate this to postural alignment when moving and handling.
- Unsafe practices and common injuries.
- Practically demonstrate safe transfers of residents.
- Practically demonstrate the safe use of relevant equipment to assist in the movement of people.
Course Materials
- All those completing the course will be issued with a Certificate.
- A full set of Course Notes will be issued to the Manager of those attending.
Notes
Staff will be required to sign a Health Declaration prior to the start of the course.
Recommended guidelines are that all people movers should undertake at least six hours of training per year.

Recommended guidelines are that all people movers should undertake a minimum of six hours of training per year.
